Step by Step: Building a Timeless Rustic Bathroom Vanity.

As builders, creating custom pieces are some of our favorite projects. Using natural materials and personalized designs truly make each piece unique and special. If you're considering something special for your bathroom, here's a quick look at our process. 

1. Choosing the Right Materials

The foundation of a great rustic vanity is the wood. For most rustic designs, we prefer wood like  pine, which brings character and warmth. 

2. Designing the Vanity and Carved Doors

Our client Barry wanted hand-carved doors to be the focal point of the vanity. We decided on a simple floral pattern, which added a touch of elegance without overpowering the rustic feel. Carving by hand takes time, but the results are always worth it—the subtle textures of the carvings really brought the piece to life.

The vanity layout included 2 vessel sinks, 6 drawers and 6 carved doors for plenty of storage. The overall design was tailored to fit the space perfectly. 

3. Building the Frame and Matching Mirror

Once the doors were carved we constructed the frame. To tie everything together, we designed 2 matching mirrors with similar carved frames, ensuring they complemented the vanity’s design.

4. Finishing Touches

The final step was the finish—we used a dark walnut stain to bring out the pine's natural grain and sealed everything with several coats of  polyurethane for protection. The vanity and mirror looked stunning once installed, with the carved details standing out beautifully.
